Extract a substring of unknown length between two character delimiters using RegexpExtract (regular expressions)

Q. I have a long text field that has a lot of text, including emails, enclosed between <… > , like this:

<EMAIL1@GMAIL.COM> OTHER IRRELEVANT TEXT
<firstname.lastname@googlegroups.com> BLAH BLAH

I want to extract the substring, located between < and >, while ignoring everything else

A. Create a calculated field and use this formula:

RegexpExtract([Customer Batch Id Text 1], "<(.*?)>")

That will give you the string between < and > , including those delimiters, like this:

<EMAIL1@GMAIL.COM>
<firstname.lastname@googlegroups.com>

You can then use Replace() (or a combination of Left() and Right() ) to remove the delimiters.
