Describe feature:
The drag-and-drop of columns on the left side pane currently only supports one column at a time. Please improve to be able to select multiple columns and drag them together. -
What is the use case?
When new columns are added to a table, they all show up at the end. But if we want to show them in the beginning, it is a painful process to drag them one by one. -
How often would this feature be used?
Quite frequently. -
What is the impact of this feature on your organization?
It will save development time.
Hi @deepamathur,
Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to submit your product request. The inability to multi-select columns and move them simultaneously could be annoying. Have you considered using the âgroupingâ function to bring the columns you want to work with to the front?
I am not able to find that functionality. I assume you are not taking about the grouping of data, but a method to select and move columns together. Can you guide me how to do it?
Hi Deepa,
I consulted internally. Unfortunately, there isnât a better workaround, but I added EverLake to the feature request for âAbility to move multiple (more than one) columns on the left panel and on the table element (drag bulk several ).â Will report back when the functionality is ready to roll out.
Thank you, Cathy!
This is my feature request # 2 in a couple of weeks .
Please keep them coming. I will do my diligence to see if there is a product progress or any possible workaround to share.
@deepamathur So happy to announce that you can finally bulk move columns up to the top/bottom of the field picker and within tables in Sigma now. Please check it out!!
Thatâs a great news! How do I test it⌠is it live on the cloud version I use?
Do I need to log off and log back in⌠as I canât seem to still do it.
It just got announced today. I believe you do need to log off and log back in to refresh it.
It didnât work. Iâll give it a day to get going and try again tomorrow
I was been told by the PM that this udpated feature should be working in the Sigma workbook now; please let us know if it still doesnât work for you after a refresh. Thanks!
This still does not work. Only one items gets dragged and dropped even though I selected a bunch.
The new feature seems to allows me to move the bunch of columns only to the top and bottom of the list as shown in this video, if I try to drag them to put them in another position it moves only one column
@Cathy, can I ask if this is the expected behavior or should drag-and-drop also be possible?
Yes⌠checked into Jira, currently only move to the top and bottom of the list. The engineering team is still working on multi-column drag.
